I think that's how you have to do it. Maybe you're typing it in wrong. I only say that because I have that issue a lot. Lol

You can only use the codes once. After that they will always say they are invalid. If you originally used them to register the games - then they are now invalid.
If your games are purchased as digital downloads, then you need to de-authorise the old computer before you remove your games from it. This is because you have a limit of 5 computers you can have the games on. So if you de-authorise it and uninstall the games, then you free up one of those 5.
If you have disks you can install them from disk. If the games are registered you'll be able to get your codes by logging into Origin and clicking the i button for each game and you'll find your code there.
In any case, you can download registered games from your My Games page in Origin provided you haven't exceeded your license limit of having them on up to 5 computers.
The only things you need to bring from your old laptop would be saved games and any Sims or lots you may have made and want to keep. Plus your downloaded content.
You can save your Sims from your library by going into Edit Town and click on each Sim you want to keep and click the Share button. That saves them to the Exports folder. You can do the same with any lots you may have made and want to keep from your library.
Then go into My Documents Electronic Arts and find The Sims 3 folder
Inside the Sims 3 folder you'll find
    1. a Saves folder (copy your saved games from there)
    2. an Exports folder (copy your sims and lots you shared - if any)
    3. a Downloads folder (copy your store content and any other content you have there to install)
Then when you have installed your games (Base, EPs and SPs) onto your new computer, launch a new game.
Then close the game. You will now have a new, but empty, Sims 3 folder in My Documents Electronic Arts folder
Put your Downloads, and the items from your old Exports folder into your new Downloads folder. You can install them from there using the launcher.
If you have a lot of content to install, I always keep it in a separate folder, then sort it in order of size so the biggest are on top then just move a few of the biggest files into my new Downloads folder and install them individually first.
Then when they are all installed, move those big files out to another folder I've made to keep them in.
Then move some more in and install them.
As the files get smaller you can start installing a few at a time.
With the tiny files I've installed them in lots of up to 100 at a time.
I find the launcher works better installing when the Downloads folder doesn't have much in it.
When everything is installed you should have all of your installed content in the separate installed folder. Put that somewhere very safe so you can find it next time you need to install.
Then open one of your old saved games. If you get any Missing Object warnings, you will need to work out what you haven't installed. yet.
You could try downloading your store content from your purchase history, and see if any of it shows an not installed.
Or open the Downloads Dashboard and see if anything shows as not installed with it. I've found there are a few files that the Downloads Dashboard always shows as not installed regardless if they are installed or not. So long as you are aware of that, it is still a handy way of trying to work out what you have missed installing.
I usually miss a few items each time I do it, but I do get them all eventually.
    Good luck.

I hope that is what I did wrong. I will try again I just really wish I had a backup plan. I don't have the money (or a good enough relationship with my parents) to receive new games.

I forgot to register my games when I first got them. Can I do that now? Or is it too late?

You can register them. But if the codes are invalid, I suspect that you have already registered them.
    This link talks about registration.

Are we talking about TS3 or TS4 here? TS3 doesn't have game packs, or at least we don't call them that.
Regardless though, if the discs were new when you purchased them, they should have each come with a code that allows you to perform an Origin install instead of using the discs at no extra charge. The codes, once registered, tie the games to your Origin account and it doesn't matter which or how many computers you install them on as long as you are only logged in using that account to play the game in one place, on one computer, at a time.
Or you could buy an external DVD drive for your laptop. They don't cost very much these days.
